Our beliefs

Our beliefs

In the essentials, unity. In the non-essentials, liberty.

LifeWay Church is a non-denominational church that welcomes all churched and unchurched people to worship the Lord together. We believe our strength lies in what we have in common, rather than what divides us in the body of Christ.
We believe serving God is a wonderful journey full of life changing experiences and that a changed life is a fruitful life. As we grow there will be evidence in our daily walk of the difference God has made.
In addition to Essential Beliefs, we uphold the following; In Non-Essential Beliefs, we have liberty.
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters”... “Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls.”.. “So then each of us will give an account of himself to God”...
In all our beliefs, we show charity. “If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

• 1 Corinthians 13:2

•The Essentials We Believe

About God: God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
• Genesis 1:1, 26-27
• Genesis 3:22
• Psalm 90:2
• Matthew 28:19

About the Bible: The Bible is God's word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is the truth without error.
• Psalm 119:19
• 2 Timothy 3:16

About Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Jesus will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
• Matthew 1:22-23
• John 1:1-5
• John 14:10-31
• Romans 1:4

About the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and Jesus. He is present in the world to convince us of our need for a Savior. He provides the Christian with power for being a witness, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.
• 2 Corinthians 3:17
• John 16:7-13
• Ephesians 5:18
• John 14:17

About eternity: People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally united with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
• John 3:16

• Psalm 90:2
• Matthew 28:19

Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is fully God and equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. Humanity: God made the human race in His image, to be like Him in character. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are born with an attitude of disobedience and rebellion toward God. This attitude, called sin, separates people from God and causes many problems in life with the end result being death.
• Genesis 1:27
• Psalm 8:3-6
• Romans 3:23, 6:23
• Isaiah 59:1-2

• Romans 3:24-26
• Romans 5:1-5
• Romans 5:15-21

The Church: The Church is the Bride of Christ and the Body of Christ on earth. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the Church through service and commitment to a local body of believers.

• Matthew 9:43-48, 25:46

Salvation: We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or human effort. Because of sin, every person is in need of salvation. When we accept Jesus as Savior and Lord of our lives, we are born again by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Most Important Experience You’ll Ever Have...
The most important experience you will ever have in life pertains to where you will spend eternity.
We are all going to spend eternity somewhere. The decision we make in this life will determine where that will be.
What does the bible say about it?
1. God loves us and does not want us to perish.
John 3:16,17 — For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
2. All people have sinned. Sin causes separation from God.
Romans 3:23 — For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
3. Salvation is a free gift that you cannot earn. It must be received.
Romans 6:23 — For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8,9 — For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast.
4. God wants us to be brought back into relationship with Him and He made a way through Jesus.
Romans 5:8 — But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
5.We receive God’s forgiveness through faith, by trusting in Jesus.
Romans 10:9,10 — …if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
You can receive this gift right now!
You can place your faith in Jesus and receive God’s gift of eternal life right now by praying this prayer from your heart.
Dear God,
I come to You and admit that I am a sinner. I need Your forgiveness. I turn to You now, and I repent of my sins.
I believe that Your Son Jesus came to this earth, lived a sinless life and died on the cross for my sins. I believe that He rose from the dead so that I could receive forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. I accept Jesus as my Savior and ask Him to be the Lord of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
